MYSTERY MACHINE...THIS HAS NO BRAND, IS PROBABLY GERMAN AND IS WHAT'S KNOWN AS 'RE-BADGED'...

AFTER THE WAR GERMAN PRODUCTS WERE UNDERSTANDABLY UN-POPULAR, BUT BECAUSE OF THEIR

QUALITY WERE STILL DESIRED BY IMPORTERS AND BROUGHT OVER HERE FOR SALE...STRIPPED OF

IDENTITY AND RE-DECAL'ED THIS ONE WAS IMPORTED BY COLLIER & SONS.

I'VE SEARCHED THROUGH THOUSANDS OF IMAGES ONLINE  TO DISCOVER WHAT IT IS, TO NO AVAIL, I'M YET TO SEE THESE DECALS OR THE BIG BEEFY CHROME PLATE AROUND THE STITCH LENGTH LEVER ANYWHERE.

AS THINGS STAND, IT SEEMS THE ONLY ONE IN THE WORLD AND ANY INFO WOULD BE APPRECIATED...HELEN HOWES THINKS ITS A FRISTER AND ALEX ASKAROFF THINKS IT'S A VESTA OR WERTHEIM...

''COLLIER & SONS OF CLAPHAM RD'' STAMPED INTO THE NEEDLE PLATE/BOBBIN COVER....

INSIDE THE WOOD LID IS INK-STAMPED 11TH DEZ 1924

SERIAL NUMBER: 2377972

THIS IS I BELIEVE, A PRECISION ROYALE...AND AS HELEN HOWES INFORMS ME IS ONE OF THE QUALITY POST-WW2 JAPANESE/RUSSIAN/EASTERN IMPORTS, A CLONE OF THE SINGER 15K...'FANTASTIC MACHINES OF GREAT SPEED & RELIABILITY'...

IT CERTAINLY RUNS BEAUTIFULLY FOR SURE.
